It’s never too early, start taking care of your child’s teeth.

When should your child have his or her first dental visit? Ideally, it should be within six months of the first tooth, but before his or her first birthday when possible. It is a good idea to get your child used to visiting the dentist at an early age to ensure that he or she develops good dental habits that will lead to a lifetime of healthy smiles.

When you bring your child in to see Dr. Michael Mullen, we take a very gentle approach to cleaning your child’s teeth and examining them for any problems. Each member of our staff understands that a dental visit can be new experience for your child and will do all they can to make sure that you and your child are comfortable. They will also make sure to keep you informed about the exam results and talk with you about our treatment recommendations. If your child is feeling a little anxious about his or her appointment, by all means, let us know! We will be happy to talk with you about ways that you can make the upcoming visit easier for your child, and for you, if necessary!

Along with making sure that your child sees the dentist every six months, you should also teach your child the proper ways to brush and floss and that make sure they eat a healthy diet. You can also be a good role model by brushing your teeth with your child and taking a positive attitude about seeing the dentist.
